MID VALLEY REGIONAL LIBRARY COMPUTERS

The following are the “how to’s” in order to access the Mid Valley Regional Library computers:

 

  1. You will need a Library card to obtain access to the Library’s free computers; if you need to obtain a Library card, go to the Help Desk for assistance.

 

  2.  If you have an outstanding balance of $50.00 or more this MUST be cleared before you can use the computers.  If you have any problems logging  in, go to the Help Desk  and  they can assist you.

 

  3.  Computers #14 and #15 are assigned to the “Student Zone” only.

 

  4.  Computer access is limited to 1 hour only; if you need an additional hour extension, go to the Help Desk for assistance.

 

  5.  The Library computers utilize the following:

 

  1. Internet Explorer as the browser

  2. Word Pad (a simplified version of Word)

  3. Adobe Acrobat PDF (to read/view .pdf files)

  4. Google Docs (to create documents, spread sheets etc.)

  5. Microsoft Word

 

  6.  Put in your Library card number (the number under the bar code) in the box.

 

  7.  Put in the last 4 digits of your phone number in the next box.

 

  8.  You will need to click “agree” to the Library’s terms and conditions use of the computer.

 

  9.  The Mid Valley Regional Library Home Page will be displayed and you can continue with your sear4ch of the Library’s website or you can open a search engine, i.e. Google from that point.

 

PRINTING DOCUMENTS FROM THE LIBRARY COMPUTER

 

  1.  Depending upon the situation, you may not be able to save a file to Adobe .pdf    format.  If you are having difficulty, see the Help Desk and they can provide you with a “loaner” USB flash drive to save your document in this format.  You will then be able to print the .pdf.  You can bring in your own USB flash drive and print your document as well, see the Help Desk if you need assistance.

 

  2.  ALL print jobs sent to the printer will be held in the queue for 2 hours ONLY; after that they are automatically removed from the print system.

  2.  Select PRINT

 

  3.  Enter “password” which is your Library card number

 

  4.  Enter the last 4 digits of your phone number

 

  5.  Assign your print job a “name”; be sure to WRITE IT DOWN

  6.  The display will tell you the cost for the print job

 

  7.  Choose Print to send to the print station

 

PRINT STATION

 

NOTE:  BEFORE PUTTING IN ANY MONEY…..

 

  1. Log in at the Print Station computer

 

  2.  Look for your print job “name”

 

  3.  It will tell you the cost for your print job

 

  4.  Follow the prompts

 

  8.  BEFORE CHOOSING  PRINT – PUT THE MONEY IN THE MACHINE!!!

 

RESERVING A COMPUTER

 

  1.  You can reserve a Library computer for a certain day and time.

 

  2.  Log  in with your Library card number.

 

  3.  Enter the last 4 digits of your phone number

 

  4.  To the left of the “home page” click on the “reserve a computer”

 

  5.  Choose the day and time you wish to reserve the computer; you can only reserve a computer 2 days out

  6.  Be sure to choose “PC” when you are reserving

 

  7. You can only reserve 1 hour at a time; if you require 2 hours, you will need to log out, log back in and schedule the next hour right after your first reservation; you will then have reserved a 2 hour log in time.

 

  8. Be sure to write down the computer number, day and time of your reservation.

 

  9.  Log out
